How you can help student free press legislation
Although legislation that would clarify student free press rights was unsuccessful this year, the opportunity still exists to educate legislators for another run at legislation in 2009. Continue to contact your legislators and let them know this is an important issue.

Congrats to Pacemaker winners from Washington State. I looked at the list and was amazed by the showing. Way to go!
Jeff Nusser (adviser at Emerald Ridge, whose students won a Pacemaker for JagWire), says he did some research and found that this is the most Pacemakers we have ever won as a state. It may be (though we're not positive of this yet) the most Pacemakers ever won by any one state at one convention. Clearly, Washington is leading the way in producing top student work and in fighting to guarantee student free expression. See further postings about pending free expression legislation in WA.
